travel day

Our day started with the alarm going off at 3 a.m., rolling out of the driveway at 4 a.m., and checking in at the airport at 5:15 a.m. We arrived at the gate with plenty of time for some breakfast before we boarded our plane. The flight was sold out, so the gate agents were randomly taking people's carry on luggage and requiring them to check it through. Somehow, I was one of the chosen ones to get this special treatment. I had a bad feeling as I handed my rolling bag with all of my clothes off to the Spirit Air worker. We had an uneventful flight to Fort Lauderdale and met up with our sister-in-law Joy easily there. When we arrived in Montego Bay, none of the bags we checked in Atlanta were on the baggage carousel. Four bags in all were missing. Walton handled all of the paperwork to get it delivered to us in Port Maria. Our driver, Kevin, was waiting outside so we quickly loaded his van and headed to our final destination. We enjoyed listening to him tell us about his home country during the 3 hour ride. Joy and I got a kick out of the traffic on the wrong side of the road, and seeing the price of a value meal at Jamaican Burger King (only $285!)

We're having a little down time in our room right now before heading down to a delicious Jamaican dinner which is being prepared by our friend Tricia. We are thankful to be here and looking forward to meeting Miss Peta-gay this evening!
