The siding crew finished the main areas of the house. There are still a few errors that need to be corrected, and the "fancy" trim around the windows in front needs to be done. Walton met w/ Aaron today and they went over all of the details. He uses one crew for the "rough" stuff, and another guy to fix their mistakes and do the detail work. (Seems to me if you got a better crew to do the rough stuff you wouldn't have to have someone come behind them and fix their errors, but what do I know???) Aaron has also ordered the metal for the areas of the roof that will accent the "eyebrows" over the front windows and the little roof over the mudroom entry. They'll install it once it gets here. The area where you can still see housewrap will be covered with stacked stone, as will the exposed area of the poured walls all around the bottom of the house. The odd striped pattern you might notice on the shingle siding on the peak of the roof is from the way it was put up. Walton & Aaron assure me that the "stripes" won't be noticeable once the house is painted.

On the day that Dave & Susan's grader started digging their basement, the county inspector came and posted this notice on our construction site:

Basically, it said that soil from our property was eroding onto the neighbor's property. (He called and complained - his address was written on the back of the inspector's notice...) So, Walton and Dave had a little conference with the guys who were doing the Franks' site work that day.
They couldn't see much evidence of erosion, but they want to keep peace in the new neighborhood, so they had the guys install more silt fence. The inspector was satisfied, and we haven't heard from the neighbor again after some torrential rain last week.
