slab & rain

The slab was poured this morning as promised, and it rained this afternoon. They tell us that there was enough time in between the two events that the concrete will be fine. I went by after school to take these pictures - the quality is not good because my camera had been in my air conditioned classroom all day and I didn't think about letting it adjust to the hot, humid post-thunderstorm air before I snapped these pictures.

This one is looking across the front yard at the garage floor. Judging from the position of the piece of equipment, the workers left it and ran when the lightning started earlier in the afternoon. Walton went by about 2 hours after I did and said that the crew was there finishing up and picking up equipment. We have a huge construction dumpster on site, but they still throw their drink cups and trash all over the ground. Grr.

Looking into the basement. You can see the front porch floor on the left.

Walton talked to the lumber company and the framers today. The floor joists & lumber will be delivered on Monday (Will's birthday!), and the framing crew will be there ready to go.
